THE FIRST JET POWERED AIRCRAFT
Edge Hill airfield has a significant war time history.It was the airfield where virtually all the test flying of the Whittle powered Gloster E28/39 Pioneer W4041 - the Whittle Jet was based.

The airfield

A mature airfield site with a small  north westerly facing ridge with grass and part tarmac runways. Winch and Aero tow facilities There is ample parking,comforta ble lounge, bar and self catering facilities for members. Close by an International Karting track.
